About

Dr Hendrik J Pretorius is Afrikaans, bilingual and loves the outdoors. He graduated with an MBChB from The University of Pretoria and completed three years of service at Tembisa Hospital. He has his Masters in Medicine (MMed) which he completed while working at Steve Biko, Kalafong and 1 Military Hospital. Dr Pretorius is a Fellow of the College of Medicine of South Africa and the first Surgical Gastroenterologist to qualify under UP.

As part of the faculty in the Surgical Department of The University of Pretoria, Dr Pretorius teaches and trains young aspiring doctors and surgeons. He gives lectures to undergraduate students in surgical anatomy, surgery and trauma. He also supplied the latest Gray's Anatomy textbook with intraoperative pictures in the liver and diaphragm chapters.
